Debrecen: the Nagyerdő, the centre, Újkert
The University of Debrecen's main building, the clinics and the dormitories are in the Nagyerdő, the forest park north of the centre; the informatics and law faculties are on the Kassai út campus, economics on Böszörményi út. Students live around the Nagyerdő and in the centre, from where tram 1 runs to the university; the housing estates west of the centre, Újkert among them, are cheaper, and from there tram 2 takes you towards the centre to change to tram 1.
For flats and studios Debrecen is the dearest of the three cities, with its large international student body: a studio is roughly 140,000–190,000 HUF/month plus utilities, while a room in a shared flat typically asks about 70,000 (autumn 2026, indicative). The Nagyerdő area is the most sought after; the centre and the estates are cheaper.
